FDA Grants New Indications for Use for the Optimum Materials

Contamac is delighted to announce that they have extended their indications for use on the Optimum range of materials. Contamac has been granted clearance by the FDA to market these materials, to be prescribed in otherwise non-diseased eyes, that require gas permeable lenses for the management of irregular corneal conditions, such as keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration or following penetrating keratoplasty or refractive (e.g. LASIK) surgery.

Rob McGregor commented, “The additional range of indications gives increased scope to authorized lens manufacturers using the Optimum materials, to help them meet the ever-increasing demands of their customers”.

Existing clearances for the Optimum range include spherical, toric, multifocal, bifocal, scleral and keratoconus lens designs, for the correction of visual acuity in aphakic and not aphakic people with myopia and hyperopia.
