Contamac Ltd Honoured as a Supplier to a Winning Product in the 2008 Medical Design Excellence Awards

Contamac are delighted to announce that we are a named supplier for a 2008 Medical Design Excellence Award winning product.

The Medical Design Excellence Awards is organised and presented by Canon Communications LLC (Los Angeles). It is the only award program that exclusively recognises contributions and advances in the design of medical products. Entries are evaluated on criteria that include design and engineering features with innovative use of materials, user related functions that improve healthcare delivery and provide enhanced benefits to the patient.

Derek Wilson, Business Development Manager for Contamac commented:

“We are delighted that Bausch and Lomb (Rochester, NY) has received the Medical Design Excellence Award for the Akreos AO microincision lens model MI60 and offer our congratulations to Joel Pynson and the whole Bausch and Lomb team, who have been involved in the development of this excellent device.

We are proud to have contributed to a winning product in the prestigious 2008 Medical Design Excellence Awards; the premier awards for the medical technology community. To be credited as the supplier of the material is a great achievement for Contamac Ltd. It is recognition of our ability to create, develop and produce high quality materials for implantable medical devices”.

John McGregor, Managing Director of Contamac added:

"It is an honour to have our contribution recognised and is especially gratifying that the award was made without Contamac applying for consideration. The quality of the judging panel speaks clearly of the high standard of the awards and we are very proud to be associated with the winning team of Bausch and Lomb."

The Medical Design Excellence Awards were presented last night at a ceremony held during the Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference and Exposition at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
