Visit of Queen Mary College, University of London (QMUL) to Contamac Ltd's Production Facility
In March 2010 Contamac Ltd welcomed thirty materials science students and staff from QMUL to its facility, as part of the University’s Industrial Liaison Program. Contamac was delighted to demonstrate how specialty polymers are produced and discuss the many applications in which they are used.
During the tour students received presentations from the head of each department, covering all aspects of the production of Contact Lens and Intra Ocular Lens Materials.
The students were led by Julia Shelton who is Professor of Medical Engineering at QMUL. The departments visited included Research and Development, Production and Technical Services. Within each of these all the equipment and processing techniques were demonstrated and discussed.
Contamac’s Office Sales Manager, David Golden, organised the event and commented “I was delighted to invite the QMUL to our Company and have the opportunity to share our knowledge of materials science with the students. I thank all of the students and staff for attending and showing so much interest in our Company and processes”.
Every student left with a comprehensive pack of information detailing the products produced by the Company, along with some published scientific articles that have been generated by the Contamac Team.
