Research & Development

The Research and Development function is at the core of Contamac's activities. Like all forward thinking companies, we recognise the importance of significant investment in the development of new products, which ensures we are able to provide improved materials for both contact lenses and intraocular lenses. The significant and continued investment that has been undertaken in recent years is a reflection of the importance we place on the need to continually advance and adapt to changes in the needs of our customers.

The scientists within the Research and Development team have a diverse range of backgrounds, and include polymer chemists, material scientists, process improvement chemists and organic chemists. This range of skills ensures we are able to develop leading products and continuously improve our manufacturing technology. The focus of the group is new materials for the ophthalmic industry, however we also perform contract-testing services, and are involved in a number of collaborations in the medical device industry.
